Waking from sleep random issue

Hey guys,

I am getting a random waking from sleep problem where I get the spinning wheel and no prompt to log in. Nothing seems to get my MBP on 10.5.5 out of it. It will go back to sleep but only way to come back to life is hard reset. Tried zapping prom, repair permissions, and checked for dive errors. No luck. Any ideas?

vmware fusion was causing mine to do that.
