Waking up lid-closed MBP with Remote and playing music in iTunes?

Hi,

when I press play button on my remote when MBP is closed, it wakes up and starts playing music in iTunes. That would be cool, but unfortunately after few seconds it goes back to sleep again. I think that once I tried that before it worked and the music kept playing. Is there a way how to get it working again? How is your MacBook behaving when you try this?

perhaps enable clamshell mode?

So if I want to wake my computer up with the remote and listen to some music I have to buy an external display and miniDisplayport reduction, right? That seem little bit awkward to me.. :/
I can actually wake the computer up, but why is it going back to sleep again?
