Waking up my NAS without reconnecting

I'm using a Thecus NAS solution for my Timemachine backups, Itunes storage, etc. I have the Thecus set to sleep after 30 minutes of activity.

On my windows machine, since I had drive letters mapped to the NAS, simply clicking the drive would wake up the NAS (albeit it took a few moments).. on my MBA, I constantly have to 'Connect to server' after it has been put to sleep. It vanishes from Finder as well.

Any way to make it not vanish, and not require doing a 'connect'?
