Is anyone else experiencing the problem of a black screen upon wake with the XDR display connected to the 2019 Mac Pro? My only recourse is to unplug and plug the monitor's thunderbolt cable in order to get the display working again.

<screams into the void>

I was really hoping Apple's own monitor wouldn't have this problem. :( Definitely curious to hear from others.

No problems here with mine. What video card is in your MP?
It's the AMD Radeon Pro Vega II. Apple support knew nothing. He say to try a SMC reset, which it seems on the Mac Pro literally entails just shutting the machine, unplugging it, plugin it back in, and turning it on?

Same setup I have. Hmm. That works but leave it unplugged for 30 seconds just to make sure that the power is all drained and the SMC resets.

One thing: I’ve added a HighPoint RAID controller PCI card-could this somehow be messing with the Radeon card which is further down the PCI slot chain?

I have a HighPoint 7101A-1 card in mine and there's no trouble. What slot did you put it in?

The HighPoint 7101A-1 is installed in the x16 slot #5. Perhaps this is the wrong slot (the dynamic allocation seems imbalanced).

I just got my new mac pro 2019 yesterday so i haven't changed anything from the factory except migrated my data. However i get the black screen if I walk away and leave it unattended for awhile, and if I unplug the cable and plug it back then the display comes back on. No keystrokes do anything. moving the mouse doesn't help.
Only i don't have that apple monitor. i own a samsung curved 50 inch.

I'm using a Windows laptop to drive the Pro Display XDR, and it works perfectly. The display will turn off together with the system's sleep, and will turn back on again after waving the mouse or pushing some buttons on the keyboard.

I have the pro display and when its the only monitor plugged into my egpu it wakes from sleep fine. However, when I have a secondary monitor plugged in, it does not wake up.

really disappointing

Hi, I am having problems lately waking up the XDR screen with new Mac Pro. I will tap on the keyboard/use mouse etc and the screen flickers on for a moment then goes back again..iyt can do this far quite a few times before it eventually stays on and then I can put in my password and all is great! Sometimes goes on and off for like 12 times!! Not good

Having same issues. Mac Pro Vega Pro II / XDR.
Didn't happen for the first few months. Now kinda bugs out every other day.
Try a complete power drain of your system. After lots of back and forth with less-knowledgeable Apple support people, I finally got through to a guy who knew how to fix this.

Power down, unplug everything including power cord from your Mac Pro, then press and hold the power button for 40 seconds. Plug everything back in, and start up. Your monitor issue should be solved.

Still having this issue here with dual XDRs. Seems specific to the Vega II for some reason. Frustrating. Draining the power seemed to work once or twice, but right back to the issues again
