Yes you will need to furnish proof you are student. Call the store ahead of time if you are unsure what to bring.

Free ipod touch runs until school starts in September or late august I believe. Normally I never suggest that people wait but if you don't need it (and it sounds like you're not exactly desperate) then there is no point in buying soon-to-be outdated tech with no gain timewise.

guys i really appreaciate your fast responses! thanks
are you guys pretty sure about the update in july? because if they dont update i will rather get it now. how likely is it?
thanks

Just bring your acceptance letter to the store to use as verification.

If you can wait, wait.

you have till October 15 to submit your rebate for the touch.

But you only have til September 15th to buy your computer.

Futureshop (here in Canada) allowed me to price match my student discount.. they wouldn't do their usual 10% of the difference deal but still... Was nice to walk away from the store with it in hand rather than waiting a week or 2. But like other posters have said, call ahead to be sure

If you have a student ID card, you are golden. And as others have mentioned, it is a mail-in rebate. So you will need to purchase the iPod, and then get a rebate check back in a couple of weeks.

As for the update, wait a while and see what comes out if you can.
