Pretty ****** experience today dealing with buying from the Apple store. Despite being the eighth person in the non reserved line the last 128 SG was reserved to the guy in front of me, and while I was deciding if I wanted to downgrade to 64GB that got reserved as well by people behind me.. then literally before my eyes the only stock left for reservations was only 16GB.. Gold. So I said fine knowing I will be returning it within the next 14 days while I am hunting for a 128GB SG +

During the processing I opted for the AUP which wouldn't accept my Discover card, called Discover and they confirmed that there were no attempts being made on the card - tried 3 times - they still reported no attempts or draws on the card. So I used a different card - this was for the AUP verification and credit pull - got declined. (No problem - decided to pay in full)

The checkout screen automatically included the extra $130 for the Apple Care+ which comes with the AUP. I informed the guy I didn't want it, and so he canceled that transaction - this is after my number had already transferred to the new phone. Because he canceled the transaction at that moment this left me with the phone in the box activated. Yet he still had to recreate the transaction but had to bypass the activation as part of it on the new transaction. I'm not sure what prompted it, but he indicated that I would need to have my number switched back to my original phone and ushered me over to the Verizon account reps in the apple store who moved my service back to my original phone.

So, despite what they told me during the middle of the week.. I did in fact leave there with an iPhone 6s+ which was not activated when I left, and still isn't. Not sure if this is normal for fully paid for un-subsidized phones from the Apple store, but interesting to me.

Best part of my day was meeting the folks who I was standing in line with :)
