Is the walkie talkie app just a quicker way to send voice clips (like we already have in iMessage) or is it an entirely other function?

Is it possible to use walkie talkie with someone who doesn’t own a watch?

Do we think iOS will also, in time, gain the walkie talkie functions?

It's an entirely different way of doing it, utilising a special type of FaceTime Audio connection so that once a conversation is started the responses are essentially instant, being streamed rather than sent as audio clips.

It's not possible to use it with someone who doesn't own a watch. I don't think they'll add this to the iPhone in the future because of the use cases it's optimised for, but who knows.

I'm hoping walkie talkie comes to iOS as well. I'm also hoping we will be able to change notification sounds for these types of messages along with regular notifications. I do not like the fact its 2018 and we still don't have an option to change notification sound for Apple Watch.
