People will do ANYTHING. I can see people trying to drive around wearing this. Haha.

But on a serious note… people will actually wander around while using it. That’s obviously not the intent though. I wonder if apple will build in a restriction to stop you wearing it whilst walking the streets etc. It’s a potential liability nightmare, notwithstanding the dystopian future it starts to create.

It might even become a status symbol wearing it out….

What does an iPhone do whenever it is used inside a car?

I dunno....how bad could it be?

I saw one YouTuber said he's gonna test driving with it 😧
If a police officer sees him, he would likely be arrested... either for distracted driving or simply not looking out the window for obsticals (the AVP you are not looking out it technically speaking - it would be no different than driving using a camera broadcast to do so).

I wonder how Apple will solve the problem of this device being used inside vehicles. The gyroscope is sensitive to the movement of the vehicles turns so even though you don’t mean to turn your head left, the car turning left will still be sensed by visionOS as the device being moved left about gravity.

Podcast I just heard said that it won't work when you are moving too quickly.
And if on a plane it will go into a special mode only.

So sounds like Apple has already decided that you won't be able to openly walk quickly or wear it when driving, and have already put in blocks to stop this from happening.

Lol, Apple can't save all their customers from eh stupidity.

Wow, the people working on this have to saying WTF people, lol.

If accurate, that's got to be disappointing to developers. An artificial limitation based off of movement speed would severely restrict its potential uses as a physical therapy or athletic analysis tool.

Well it CAN change of course.
But apparently even if you move too fast indoors the headset detects this and does something.
It's because Apple are so scared of negative press from someone hurting themselves with the headset, so they have put these strict safeguards into place.
Actually yes the Exercise thing was mentioned, but again this was blocked for fear of injury news.

Apple just don't want bad press.
So it's sit down or stand up and gently walk kinda stuff for now.
Though of course they will probably change such settings at a later date when they feel they need to.

Note how gentle and slow people were shown in the promo video.

Something like this would have driven Apple folks crazy wanting to experience it,
But as we know, we got sitting on the sofa, packing a suitcase, standing at a desk and creepily recording your kids birthday in 3D

Apple COULD have shown something like this, but...............

If I was a parent or kid I'd loved recording any family event in 3D.
Would you not rather have the person you love, right there sharing the live moment with you as opposed to having a headset strapped onto your face whilst recording the special moment?

When your loved ones are dead you will value the audio & visual media they left behind.

What most people are saying is that they hope in future there will be the ability to capture 3D moments on a future iPhone and hot need to hid your face away during the events within a headset.

I do agree it's cool to record such things, it's just that almost everyone has been saying wearing a headset during an important event is not what most wish to see.

When the car seatbelt came about almost no one liked them.

Indeed.
I'm sure in time, and may be a long time it will not seem that weird to wear some type of headset out in public.
All I am reporting is that I've listened to many many reviews and podcasts about the headset and no-one I've heard likes the concept of wearing a headset during your child's special event.
Not one person I have heard says this is good, with most saying this is really bad.

Then perhaps it is good that Sony can produce <500,000 pairs of screens for the AVP. 😉

Are you aware that people can be passengers in planes, and cars? Why did your mind immediately go to the driver and the pilot? Let’s rub those two brain cells together and try again.

Recording on a phone/traditional camera may be not as “creepy”, but I don’t think it’s any better in terms of not being present in the moment, because you’re eyes are focusing on a little screen, not on the people, not making eye contact. At least with the VP, you will for all intents and purposes be looking directly at the people/event and they will see you looking at them. So while you would definitely look odd (at least for now), at least you are making eye contact, which I think makes you more in the moment. And what’s considered odd is always changing. Also, just like you put your phone away when done recording, you would just take off the headset when you’re done.

I honestly think if all these sci-fi dystopian stories didn’t engrain in our minds the idea that technology is our pitfall, we wouldn’t jump to conclusions so quickly. Yes, we should definitely be vigilant, and the stories are good warnings, but they are heavily biased against technology in order to create more exciting stories, and so they’ve created a bias in us as well.

Remember when people said no one would walk around with Q-tips (AirPods) hanging out their ears?
Remember the first time you saw someone walking down the street looking like they are talking to themselves wearing airpods.

The whole point of this 1st Gen product is to begin conditioning US that this is normal. You will see a lot of influencers talking up the product to make you think it’s the new normal. Apple’s marketing will focus on the ‘lifestyle.’ This is how it will end up successful in the long term. Just don’t expect it with Gen 1.

I don’t expect to see anyone driving with them on (now). But drop the latency and build a CarPlay interface for it and you could argue it is ‘more’ safe since you would never have to look down (and apple can limit what is shown). Hell, build in a ‘dash cam’ style feature that records the 30 seconds that happens before a detected crash and 30 seconds after and the insurance industry would push them.
