Walking directions by default

Hi

I'm not sure whether it's an apple watch issue or an iOS 8 issue, but how do you get your watch to give you walking directions by default ?

There used to be a setting in iOS 7 (in iPhone Maps Settings) to get walking directions by default, but it seems Apple removed it with no explanation in iOS 8 ?

And once your directions are given with a driving option, it seems there's no way to revert to walking, which is really a shame...

I really don't understand this issue, as it is possible to choose "walking" when you set up a new direction...
