Okay, I'm legit at losing my mind here. I'm so damn sick of this problem and not a single thing I've done has been able to fix it. It's occurred over the entirety of Sonoma and now Sequoia – in fact I only updated to Sequoia in hopes that it would fix this issue.

I have a MacBook. (It's an Air but the same thing happened to my previous Pro.) I have my own wallpaper set. This is what happened multiple times a day:

While the MacBook is closed, I plug it into my external Apple Studio Display.
The wallpaper gets reset to the default (the Sequoia trees one).
I go into Settings to change it back to my own wallpaper.
Then I unplug the MacBook.
I open up the MacBook, and the wallpaper has reset again.
So I change it back to my own wallpaper.
Then, while the MacBook is closed, I plug it into my external Apple Studio Display.
The wallpaper gets reset to the default (the Sequoia trees one).
I go into Settings to change it back to my own wallpaper.
Repeat, repeat, repeat.

It's truly driving me f///ing insane at this point.

Does anyone have a way to fix this?

I've restarted the computer in multiple configs (clamshell+monitor, open+monitor, open w/o monitor, etc). I've shut down entirely in the same multiple configs. I've tried blasting preference plists. I don't know what to do anymore.

Someone save me. ❤️
