Wallpaper white dot problem

Im having a really strange problem. It started when I was using an external monitor. There is a white line in the center of my screen on the desktop wallpaper. However it does not show up on any other screen. It does not change when I change wallpapers. This thing is driving me nuts. I has to be a software issue because it only affects the wallpaper. Enclosed a pic of the problem. White Macbook osx 10.6.2
