On my repair list is a Wallstreet with a cracked 12" display. I was wondering whether I could replace this with a 14" from some donor PB. The only worry I have is that the 12" Wallstreets only have half of the 4MB VRAM that its better endowed siblings sport. This reminds me of the lower clocked and FW-free iBook Clamshells that cannot have the XGA mod for exactly this reason.

Anyone know whether it is doable? 14" displays are easier to find as well as giving more screen real estate.

hard to say...

it could be like Non FW Clamshells, they can be made to work with a 1024x768 screen but it requires a hardware mod to do so. (4MB of VRAM is not the reason it cant do 1024x768)

or it might work OOB. I cant imagine the thing would be fun to use with its stock cacheless CPU however :D

I have not personally tried, (I only 2 PowerBook "G3"s a Kanga, and the Pismo)
