iPhone SE (2016) walmart returns and exchanges

I got the new iphone se from walmart.com through that deal they have for like $200 off. Phone sim card tray was damaged. Went to walmart and they said I could only return the phone. They said they didnt do exchanges and they didnt have it in stock and could not order it for me. They said I would need to return it and then wait until at&t updates their system to try to reorder if the deal is still available at that time. I called apple and they said I could use applecare but would count as an incident so didnt recommend it. He thought he might be able to order just the part and I could pay for it so I may go that route. Has anyone returned their iphone se phone to walmart that used this deal and how did it go?

and there was no need for you to reply and be a jerk. thanks. not everyone would have clicked on that thread unless they cared about a broken sim tray. i wanted to specifically get the attention from anyone
that ordered from walmart about returns in general.
