WAN port on Time Capsule?

Hi guys... recently I was looking at my brand spanking new Time Capsule, 1TB. Then I noticed a weird, ethernet looking port, but it had a different symbol. Looking up at Apple.com, I saw it was a WAN port. What is a WAN port, what can we plug into it, and what's it for? Thanks

It's the Ethernet port for your internet connection if you use a separate modem.
