Wanna buy at full price from Apple, still have to commit to 24 months?

I have been both online and called apple sales directly and they both are telling me that even if I buy the phone at full price I still must commit to a 24 month contract with AT&T. What?

A thousand bucks and I have to sign up for 2 years? Am i missing something? Something doesn't seem right there.

Anyone else get this information?

Online, yes. Over the phone, yes. In store, no.

just go to the apple store and ask to buy the phone device only. they won't take any of your info. no contract required.

That is weird. The nearest Apple store is 4 hours away.

Would you guys know if it is the same if purchasing from a real AT&T Store? I mean I will still probably have to get one that is locked to AT&T, but at least can I get out of the 24 month commitment?

I purchased my phone on ATT full price and got it unlocked just a day or two later by applying online.

I have been a customer of ATT for many years. Are you currently with ATT? Or you just want to buy the phone from them?

If you want, us canadians could sell you a factory unlocked phone from apple for full price lol
