A coworker of mine moved to another city and gave me a Power Macintosh 8500/180 with an external SCSI CD-R drive (4x-4x-16x).

Here it is at everymac.com

I was thinking of giving it to my Dad, whose old Mac only has a PowerPC 601 at 75 MHz. But then I got a new iMac, so now I'm giving him my iMac 333. So, the point is, I've never even turned this thing on, and it's been sitting here at work for several months. I'm going through a cleanup/recycling/donating phase, and think that maybe I should give this thing away, if anyone's interested.

I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in case you need to know to figure out shipping.

I am very interested. I've been looking for one of these in a while.

I am most interested in the physical condition of it. Can you take a pic or two?

I live in Chicago. I'll try to figure out shipping with a major carrier (FedEx or UPS).

Thanks for IMing me 840quadra

Sorry, I only have a crappy camera phone to take pictures with. There's some stickers on it, but they'd probably come off easily.

It looks like it would be about $41 USD to ship to the Chicago suburbs. Judging by the condition of the case, and the uncertainty of whether or not it works, I think I'll have to pass this time. Thanks.

After I get my Dad all setup with the iMac, then I'll use the monitor and ADB keyboard and mouse from his old computer to verify that this one works. It's understandable that someone would want to know for sure that it works before paying for shipping.

If possible, after you confirm that it works, and the specifications, take some higher res photos of the case.

Perhaps it is just dirty (like many 8500's on the market). If it works, and the case is just soiled, perhaps dpaanlka would be interested. If not, I will look into it as well.

The case is a little dirty, but is not damaged in any way. There's a sticker on it saying 288 MB RAM and 2 GB SCSI HDD.

If you'd be willing to hold onto it for two weeks or so that'd be great. College kid here needs to scrounge up enough money. Unless of course somebody else comes along and nabs it.

No worries, I'm good at procrastinating :)

I am the preverbal next in line, and I am only interested if dpaanlka backs down.

I did have a couple of strange freeze issues on my 8500 today, so I hope I don't need to replace the logic board after dpaanlka gets the system from you!
