Make a US iTunes account: here

Search for AOL in iTunes store.
Select the App.
At the top of the iTunes store page, select AppStore.
Browse!

If you download an app, it will automatically add the iTunes Applications link in the left hand panel.

No need for a US account, search for AIM on the UK store and you can download it and still have access to the app store.
