I'm trying to get a mono playback option for my iPod 5th generation 30GB (as there is for the iPod Touch, apparently).

Since my iPod only plays one channel (water damage, I think), I'd like that one channel to be a composite mono signal, so that I can then use a stereo-to-mono jack, yielding a composite mono in both ears.

I don't want to re-import all my songs in mono; I just want the option.

Any firmware hacks?

Thanks.

Something like this might do the trick

Look around a bit and you may find one that looks better or may even be cheaper.
