Hi Guys,

Can someone help me here please...I had asked SIRI to set a Alarm for today morning 8 AM using this Command " Hey Siri wake me up tomorrow morning at 8 AM to the sound of Birds Chirping" And it just played a normal alaram it did confirm me that I have set an alarm with Birds Chirping Sound then why did it not play it ?

is there anything wrong with my Command ? what could have been the right SIRI Command then if not this ?

I am on the Homepod version 15.4.1 and the Homepod is connected to the Home App on my iPad.

I don't know what the correct phrase would be for this request as I have never asked my HomePod to do an alarm for me.....however, if this is a regular thing you would want.....I would probably set this up as a scene or as an automation instead of a vocal request.

Why ? how does it matter ? How does it make a difference ? Vocal Request or an Automated Scene or Shortcut in Homekit ?

For reliability of it working as you want.....you already tested 1 vocal request and only half of it worked....albeit, perhaps a different wording might have had more success.....but the way you said how you requested it to begin with should have worked in my opinion.......but then again we are talking about Siri here, and that is a bit of a hit n miss sometimes.

So what be your suggestion here would be go with a Shortcut or a Homekit Scene ? And can you tell me more as in how and what kind of Shortcut or Homekit Scene that I can set here ? Like an example ?

Why make this more difficult than it needs to be? Just set up the alarm from the Home app, select “media” as the alarm sound source and then pick an Apple Music nature track with birds chirping. There are dozens, if not hundreds, of them.

We all (myself included) get hung up on trying to force this still immature technology to do our bidding and failing at times. We get fixated on that failure rather than finding a simpler approach that accomplishes our initial objective.

Yes but my issue here is I would have ideally like to do it verbally by invoking SIRI, Now the approach you have suggested needs to get hold of the device, go into it and then set it.

Yes. But this feature (using Siri to do this) does not appear to exist per the research I’ve just done. You should submit this as feedback to Apple as a suggested feature. It is a good idea.

Can any automation or shortcut also not help here ?

Simple answer is HomePod, unlike iPhone, doesn’t have “bird chirping” sound. It only have generic tone to wake you up.

My bet is if you say exactly same thing to your iPhone it (your iPhone) will do the job.

If you're looking for a regular alarm at 8 to wake you up, just set up an automation in-home kit. Whether you have access to apple music will determine if this works for you.

1. Create automation, set it for a time of day:

2. Select your home pod

3. Click on Audio and click play audio

4. Select the audio you want to play (again, you may need apple music, and you want to do this on your phone, not computer-like these screenshots). If you have birds chirping in your music library track, you may be able to select that

I use this automation to stop all music at night at 7:30 and play a specific playlist to put my family to sleep. It saves a lot of messing around with phones + and yelling commands to Siri.

Have fun.

And how will this automation get triggered on its own at that time ? As long as it is connected to the internet ?

Read the person’s answer. We like helping here, but if you are being purposely obtuse, the help dries up.

The automation has a field that says it gets triggered at 8:20 daily. If the device is running, the automation will run.

Again, you are trying to solve this issue with way more complexity than it needs. I can use a Shortcut or Siri to open the Mail app, but I can also just tap the icon. Which do you think I do?
