Hi Folks,

I've just bought a MacBook Pro 13" 2,53Ghz and I'm thinking about buying an LCD 22 inches Wide - 1680x1050 - 2ms (IIyama).
Could anyone tell me if my brand new MBP can manage the resolution if this LCD ? can I have the display both on the MBP and le LCD in the same time ?

thanks :)

yea it works amazingly well! I have the 13inch 2.4ghz aluminum, with a samsung syncmaster 20.3", 1600 x 900, and run both at the same time. It gives me waaaaayy more desktop space and is the best $200 i ever spent!

highly recommended, i tell all my mac buddies to do the same :)

I think i would go for a Iiyama ProLite E2407HDS (24 inches Full HD). I've read some positive review about it and the price/quality ratio is great.
what do you think ? any suggestions ?

Same specs as my BenQ has. I've never heard of Iiyama but I hope you do

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I thought it was better than make a new one along the same lines..

I have a 13" MacBook (Late 08). Can that cope with a 22"-ish screen and if so, which connector is best, minidisplay to dvi for example.

Thanks

Yes, it'll do it fine. MDP to DVI is good

Don't buy a 22" display with 1680x1050 resolution - you can get 20" ones for less money and the image will be sharper because they have the same resolution.

My Mac Mini with the 9400M handles my 23" Acer H233H like a charm.

Question about this monitor (hoping you come back to this thread) I had a 19" widescreen Acer that suffered from HORRIFIC banding problems. Text was unreadable, and they told me to just keep adjusting the monitor.

Does the h233h suffer from the same problem where half of every line of text appears bolded?

Nope. I came from a Dynex 22" so I can tell you about text problems with that thing, this is crystal clear. Hell, I'm using it more than my MacBook but my MacBook still serves a huge purpose especially when college starts back up.

What was the 19" Acer model? I was going to buy a 21.5" and I think I saw the 19" and it didn't look too promising.

Someone is selling a Dell 2407 in the marketplace for cheap, I would pick that up.

With all the inputs, it easily doubles as a TV and has great picture quality.

I'm thinking about that E2407hds by Iiyama too. The resolution thing throws me though. I'm getting less pixels than other (non 16:9) monitors listed at 24inch, so why would I want that? I'm not going to be watching or editing movies on it - not much at least, so having been very keen after reading the reviews and seeing the price, now I'm not so sure. I loved my recently deceased 24inc iMac and all I want to do is replicate that desktop experience with my 13in MacBook pro that I just ordered. I should probably just stick to a 1920 x 1200 display. Any thoughts on what I appreciate is a bit of an vague inconclusive ramble?
