Want to buy a phone in Japan...

...uhh, will it work here in the US? I know my Cingular phone will not work in Japan because it is not 3G, but what if I bring back a 3G phone (make sure it does GSM quadband, of course) will it work?

Thanks. So if I make sure it will run CDMA 800 or 1900 mHz, it will work?
