I updated my 2015 Air 13" running 10.14.3 to 10.14.4 and the bootrom changed to 184.0.0.0 and EFI version MBA71.88Z.F000.B00.1902151233

Could someone running a 2015 or 2017 Air 13" run this terminal command and post your EFI version: /usr/libexec/firmwarecheckers/eficheck/eficheck --integrity-check

Thank you.

2017 MBA
Thank you.

Your Air is a 7,1 with an EFI version from 2018-09-17 according to this article: https://eclecticlight.co/2018/06/02/how-high-sierra-checks-your-efi-firmware/

What's the bootrom version and os?

I'm asking because I was running a nvme drive in my Air with 10.14.3 and bootrom 182.0.0.0.0. After upgrading to 10.14.4 with the nvme drive, the bootrom changed to 184.0.0.0.0 and EFI version is MBA71.88Z.F000.B00.1902151233.

I just checked on my 2015 13inch and this is what I have:

EFI Version: MBA71.88Z.F000.B00.1902151233

I have 10.14.4 and bootrom 184.0.0.0.0 on mine.

Thank you. Your Air has the same version as my Air. Mine received the EFI upgraded during the installation of the 10.14.4 update while using an Intel 600p.

Did you install 10.14.4 using an Apple SSD inside?

I did the usual software update on my MBA when I upgraded to 14.4 on my NVMe drive. Did not have to use an Apple SSD.
I didn't check my Air EFI version while running 10.14.3. After running the software update with a nvme drive, the bootrom changed to 184.0.0.0.0 and EFI version MBA71.88Z.F000.B00.1902151233. Same thing happened to a 2017 Air running an HP ex900 nvme drive.

I removed the nvme drive, installed a 256 GB Apple drive that had 10.14.3. I ran the software update on the Apple drive and was surprised to see that neither the bootrom or EFI version changed. This is the second time my Air has received a bootrom update while running a nvme drive.

so with your Apple drive installed you are showing a different EFI and bootrom version?
Nope, the bootrom and EFI version did not change when I used an Apple drive to re-run the same upgrade from 10.14.3.

Based on my observations, the 2015 Air has allowed Mojave to upgrade the bootrom and EFI version using an internal nvme drive.

I think that's because 10.14 can use NVMe drives so it does not matter if you're using Apple's SATA or 3rd party NVMe drive as long as OS 10.14 sees them you're good to go.

This was my thinking at first but I saw posts from people using 10.14.3 on a 2014 MBP with a nvme drive and, after running the software update, the os changed to 10.14.4 but the bootrom and EFI version did update.

An example: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...sd-to-m-2-nvme.2034976/page-149#post-27222905. The 10.14.4 bootrom for this particular Macbook is 151.0.0.0.0 but the member's MacBook remained at 149.0.0.0.0 which is the latest for 10.14.3.
