On most websites, if I use the “Add to Home Screen” button, it creates an icon on my Springboard that, when tapped, opens the website in Mobile Safari. That is great and exactly what I want.

However, on some websites, such as weather.com, when I do the same thing, it creates an icon on my Springboard that, when tapped, opens as a standalone app. I do not want that. I will go so far as to say I never want that. I always want those home screen website icons to open in Mobile Safari.

So my question is, how can I make that happen—how do I create a home screen icon to launch a website in Mobile Safari, when that website would normally make a standalone webapp (which I do not want)?

If it makes a difference, I am running iOS 6.1.2 on an iPhone 4S, and intend to keep it that way.

This is determined by how the website codes their pages. Unfortunately, I can't think of a way to get around it. If someone knows how, I'd love to learn it, too!
