So about 1yr ago I acquired 2 x G4 Mirror door Powermacs. Both cosmetically in good condition & Ive been wanting to do something "modern" with them since...
Ideally, Id like to put together a "simple" Mac/Windows dual boot hackintosh to use as a daily & do some Windows gaming...
Curious if anyone has done something similar? And/or has 1st hand experience "modding" old G4 cases with modern hardware...

Earlier models are easier to modify because an ATX power supply bolts right in. The MDD is a bit different. The tonymacx86 forums have a bunch of threads about these kinds of mods if you’re looking for ideas.

Since the MLB is attached to the 'door' it should only be a matter of removing the optical drive cage, HDD cage and the ridiculously loud power supply. From there you can MacGuyver in your new power supply and board.

the mdd is built completely upside down. in order to fit a PC board into it, you would have to get the entire back from an earlier model g4, and then mod that with the cutouts for ATX. not a beginner's mod by any means. there is a reason that laser hive doesn't just offer kits for these like they do for the earlier models
