Hey guys,

so what I am looking at is taking all the home videos of my friends and family and creating a distinct video folder just for the home videos. I don't want to mix them in with the movies folder, I just want a designated Home Video folder, I am just kind of anal that way. I want my movies, to just contain movies.

I want them in iTunes so I can airplay them to my TV or my iOS devices on the fly.

How can I do this/is it possible?

Thanks.

Simple. Just put the videos in the folder and add that folder to iTunes, using File > Add to Library

Does the folder have to be in the iTunes folder? I would assume so?
No, you can add files or folders from anywhere to your iTunes library, including external drives. Just be sure those sources are available (mounted) before launching iTunes, or it won't be able to find the files. I do this because my iTunes library won't fit on my internal drive, so I have it split between internal and external drives. If you don't iTunes to make a copy of the files, be sure to uncheck these boxes before adding folders:
iTunes > Preferences > Advanced > organize & copy checkboxes.PNG

Or just drag the videos to iTunes while holding the option/alt key.

That way they only get referenced but not copied over. Handy little trick.
