want to keep 3gs as backup

So my iphone4 should be out for delivery today, but I still want to keep my 3gs as a backup.

If I get an adapter can i simply swap the mini sim from the iphone 4 to the 3gs and have a fully funcitonal phone (data and voice) ?

Also, do any stores such as ATT or best buy sell sim adapters?

thought about that....ive been practicing on credit cards...ive been doing a terrible job..

How will you get the card back into and out of the 3Gs if you cut it down?
