Want to know whether an iphone 3g back will fir onto a 2g iphone?

My iphone 2g is really battered now with dents and scratches and was on cnn.cn looking for a new back to buy when i saw they sold 3g backs and wanted to know whether it would fit onto by 2g iphone. Please can you help

I don't think so since the iPhone 3G is slightly contoured.

Why not look for a iPhone 2G back then?
