I am purchasing an Ipad 3 for my father who is on delegation in Germany. That is, he will be living in Germany for the next year as part of a project he is working on for his job. Then he will return back to the United States. I will be visiting him and leaving this Saturday. He told me he would like to have an iPad 3 with cellular capabilities.
I understand that all iPads are unlocked so he can just pop out the SIM card and pop in one for Vodafone or O2 correct?
Then when he returns he can pop back in the SIM card for Verizon or AT&T, correct?
My next question is, does it matter if I purchase a Verizon or AT&T iPad 4g if he will be using it in Germany for the next year? I don't believe it does (the data rates are month to month and basically the same, Verizon has a better 4G network for when he returns so I am leaning towards purchasing the 4g Verizon 16gb iPad 3).
