I want to just replace the outside glass of the front which is the LCD if I am correct. But I heard that the LCD is connected to the digitizer, so what is a safe way part? For iPhone 4

I'm basing this off your signature that says you have an iPhone 4.

The iPhone 4 LCD and glass/digitizer are fused together. They can't be separated so you have to replace the entire front assembly.

But I see them selling just the LCD itself though?

Yes, you can buy a new LCD and a new digitizer assembly but then you run the risk of not installing it properly or even straight. The LCD by itself comes with a layer of adhesive and once it's stuck, it's not coming off without ruining the LCD. If it's not perfect it won't fit on the phone and just wasted the money.

Trust me when I say this, spend the money on the assembly and do it the right way. You will not be able to remove the LCD from your phone without destroying it.

Thanks! I guess I'll save for the white conversion since I am at it.
