I have a vanilla 2G that I want to jailbreak & unlock, then sell on eBay. I just got my new iPhone 4 today.

Do I need to go through the jailbreak and unlock process with the 2G before I activate my new phone, or can I worry about that later?

Any other tips would helpful too.

Sorry if this is a repost. I searched but couldn't find anything exactly like what I was asking.

+2 ^^^ It sounds like you might be concerned with the jailbreak due to iOS update, but don't be worry about it b/c 2G isn't able to update. You would be concerned if you tried to restore to a new phone with 3G/3GS/4 b/c they are the only ones that have to update when you try to restore. You can restore as new jb/unlock and sell it; when I sold mine several years ago, I didn't do a jailbreak, I just removed the SIM card after a restore and that was all I needed to do. Make sure you do a backup before you activate your new iPhone 4...
