Want to take my MBP in for a checkup!

I have a MBP 2.4 GHz with 2GB 667 ram using OS 10.4.11
This slab of metal is giving me trouble. Very slow operating speed. The power just doesn't seem up to par. I get really frustrated when using Aperture, iMovie, iDVD, iPhoto, dreamweaver, safari, and so on. It seems there is always a lag with windows opening and programs operating.

Anyhow, I would like to take my laptop in to the apple store and have them do a check up on it. The only problem is that there is a good chance I could possibly have software on my mbp that I didn't purchase.

My question is, do they look for this kind of thing and if they do come across it, what kind of action do they take if any?

No, I shouldn't think they do look for it, and don't do anything even if they did notice.

Mine went in with some dodgy software on it ages ago, nothing came of it. They fixed the laptop, nothing more, nothing less.

Can you bench it with the latest XBench (1.3?)

Mine went very slow until I replaced the hard drive. Now it's fine.

(2nd gen, 17" 2.33Ghz, 3GB ram)

mine has the HD screen upgrade and the 7200 rpm drive. I don't see in replacing this hard drive after paying for the upgrade.
