I have an iPhone 5s on 7.0.4 that is jailbroken. I recently ported my number from AT&T to Verizon, and contacted AT&T yesterday to inquire about unlocking my phone. I got the email that I was good to go on the unlock, but I would have to restore in iTunes for the unlock to be complete.

Thing is, I obviously don't want to restore to 7.1.1 because I'll lose my jailbreak. I stuck my Verizon sim card into the supposedly unlocked phone, and it showed one bar for a minute, then went to No Service. Is the phone unlocked or no? I never got the 'Congrats your phone is unlocked' message in iTunes. If I buy a cheap $.99 nano sim off Ebay and stick it in, it should show the carrier on the phone and give me the unlocked message in iTunes right?

Reason I'm asking all this is that I want to sell this unlocked phone to recoup some of my ETF fees. Do buyers even care about jailbreaks anymore? I thought it would be more valuable if I kept it on 7.0.4. What would you guys do? Thanks for the advice!

If AT&T said they unlocked it then it can be used on any GSM carrier.
Verizon is CDMA so it wont work with them or any other cdma carrier.
You should be able to sell it easy though since it is unlocked.

So is it even worth it anymore to keep the lower firmware version that is jail breakable? Or should I just upgrade it to 7.1.1?

If you want it unlocked then you must connect to iTunes and have it say unlocked
