Wanting to purchase a woodcrest Mac Pro, advice?

Well as Mac Pros keep progressing on and on, the first generation Woodcrest Mac Pros have finally hit my price range . It has been one of my dream computers to own, and now finally it is at a price where I can afford one.

I was thinking about buying from PowerMax or Headgap, but kind of scared of eBay and Craigslist.

What should I look for when buying one? I know a lot come with only 1GB of RAM, and that will definitely not be enough to run Lion. The Mac should be able to run Lion without any hiccups, correct?

It will have no trouble with Lion. Try to get one with as much RAM as possible as the RAM in it is expensive (around $50/gb).

The pair of CPUs aren't great by today's standards either, being on par with this year's slowest MBP, however you can upgrade them to Clovertown processors and get a true 8-core machine, which is still pretty good. Go to Clovertown in this list: http://tinyurl.com/yg9sun3
