Wanting to start a vinyl collection

Apologies up front if this is in the wrong section of the forums!

I love having a large digital music collection, but I'd love to start a collection of my favourite albums (around a dozen or so) in physicals form. I absolutely hate CDs, so vinyl seems like the natural choice, and I've heard good things about the "organic" sound quality.

Since I'm new to the whole thing, I'm not really sure where to start. If anyone could give me some pointers and recommendations on what I'd need, and the best places to get it from, I'd be really grateful.
