Hey guys,

Just wondering if warcraft 3 and frozen throne are both universal binary like WoW. My friend just bought it and says its really fun, and he plays it on a mac.

I myself have copies of them, but I play them on my computer. So if I get a mac, could I use the same dics. to play it on a mac, or would I need to buy completely new disc. specifically for a mac to play them.

Also, If I did, can mac players play with pc players?

Thanks

Yes just download the latest patch and you will have universal WC3.

There is only one WC3 edition and that contains both the Mac and PC version of the game on the same disc.

And yes, Mac players can play with PC players seamlessly online/offline whatever.

Anything else?

Where can I find this patch? And also is it for Warcraft 3 frozen throne too.

Another question: All I do is load the disc on my mac, go on battle.net? and then the disc becomes universal binary automatically? Sorry, but I'm not exactly good with computers.

The patch is automatically applied when you sign onto battle.net. it dls, applies and restarts WC3.

Youll need to do it for both RoC and FT, opening each and signing on bnet for each to get the patches.

NO your cd will not be updated, its not a writeable media you cant add or delete things from it.

if you were to reinstall WC3 from disc, you would have to update it again.

oh ok, so it does it automatically. I just put the disc's into my mac, log into battle.net, and then it's done? Sounds easy.

Yup, once you TRY TO sign into Bnet it will always check for updates, and then proceed to DL them before you are even allowed to sign in. So you dont even need to make a Bnet account to update it!

WoW works the same way, try to sign in even with a made up character and password, it will still dl the updates.

Wrong, just install Reign of Chaos, don't do anything then install Frozen Throne, then you just open the game (with the cd in your mac) and click on battle.net and you'll be set. No need to do it fro both RoC and TFT, TFT patches already include the roc changes as well.

Alright, does it apply to any year of the disc's? I think I bought these right when it was released. Anyways, thanks Chone for the very idiot proof explanation.

hi, i have also installed warcraft 3 on my macbook pro SR but every time i log onto battle.net and play a custom game, and i click quit on the main start page it just crashes and i have to force quit, btw i am running the universal binary.
