OMG - everything was running fine with 15.4 but after 15.4.1 being out for some time I thought it would be safe to update. Apparently not. No displays are turning on now after installing 15.4.1. I can't get into recovery mode or anything. Connected devices are turning on I can see but I can't do anything it seems to get into recovery or get any display working. Neither Displayport or HDMI.

Just a warning if this happens to other people. Frankly I don't have time for this now and I have never experienced an update from Apple ruining stuff like that.

M4 Max here.

EDIT: It tries to do something. Keeps reconnecting and disconnecting devices, rebooting forever it seems. Now it has reverted back to 15.3.2 apparently doing some recovery on its own. However, it doesn't restart normally. A reboot makes it go into this cycle again of rebooting several times.

EDIT2: After many, many different attempts, I got it into recovery mode and am now re-installing MacOS. I just wonder if this means I have to do everything I spent DAYS doing, preparing and getting my system working, including installing all plugins, sample libraries via Native Access etc again.

Good for you. Doesn't really help people who do have problems with it, does it? There is nothing wrong with the machine regarding hardware. Clearly something was wrong with the update. Now 15.4.1 is installed and all seems to be running again.

I need to make a rebootable USB recovery stick with my config for sure before I ever apply another Apple update - this was scary...

Maybe you should have made a backup before installing the update :p
