Using Western Digital My Passports as an upgrade for your MacBook internal hard drive has been quite popular. I tried it last night but they have changed the construction of the drive I had meaning it was not be possible. More info here on the process, and where the potential danger has also been highlighted but I did not see until too late

I am in the UK & bought a 500Gb Passport Essential, to find it has the one piece circuit board now discovered by some. The build date was 7th Feb 2009, it was in a green box with plastic display for the drive. It was pretty tough to prise out as well, it would not slide out easily. Fortunately I have managed to get it back in the case and it seems to be working so all is not lost. An WD Scorpio drive and an external Icy case arrive from Amazon tomorrow and the Passport will be a back up.
