Hi guys

I just purchased a MBA from of my neighbour. It was brand new and sealed in the box. I was wondering if the 1 year warranty would begin once the computer is registered the first time i boot it or at the original date of purchase on the receipt?

The original date on the receipt.

From http://images.apple.com/legal/warranty/docs/cpuwarranty.pdf

Apple, as defined below, warrants this Apple-branded hardware product against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for a period of ONE (1) YEAR from the date of retail purchase by the original end-user purchaser (“Warranty Period”).

Incase you have nothing better to do than read the fine, fine print :p.
