Bought w/ my Amex - which doubles the standard warranty. I don't have accident protection though, which might be nice. Than again, its not a road warrior device for me like my iPhone. My iPad will spend most of its time hovering over carpet or the couch !

No, never an extended warranty on electronics, cars, etc from an source.

Two phones back i used for 7 years, last one for 5, iPhone isn't that old but no reason to doubt solid state electronics.

Same for ipad.

When I decide to buy a warranty it's always AppleCare.

With an iPad, there's no point.

With a MBP, MBA, or Mac Pro the value of AppleCare is worth it to me.

I am kinda a road warrior and take my iPad with me everywhere and ended up getting a third party warranty that covered damage/loss/theft. *Forget who I got it from but they got good reviews and it was legit. *I think it was around $120 for a few years. *I also got AppleCare which is a little redundant but I always get it for piece of mind.

Mac = Applecare (convenience to get it fixed at Apple store and I'm not worried about water damage to it)

iPhone = Square Trade (covers drops and water damage)

iPad = None (only used at home and not in the rain)

So... it really depends on the device and what it is susceptible to in your opinion because they all have their +'s and -'s

I get mine through my bank, with a premium back account. for £12 it gives cover for mine and my girlfriends iphone4s, extended warranty on declared devices (the ipad) travel insurance, and breakdown cover. The trouble is sending the phone away to be repaired can take a long time, so it's easier and quicker to say I have lost it and they send a new one out.
