I Know, I know....been asked before but having searched there are numerous contradictory responses.

Case in point: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/878872/

Does the fitting of an SSD in place of the stock HDD void any warranty other than the SSD part itself and secondly does the installation of an Optibay with HDD void the machine warranty as a whole?

Grateful for any responses but particularly keen to hear from you Apple Gods out there...... :)

Replacing the stock 2.5" SATA HD with 2.5" SATA HD or SSD does not void it as it doesn't change anything, just different from inside.

Replacing the SuperDrive does void warranty as it's not considered as user-serviceable part and requires some more work than replacing HD

Very grateful :)

Bit of a gamble on a new MBP then methinks to put in a Optibay ?

Well, you can always put the SuperDrive back and in 9 cases out of 10, they won't notice that it has been removed, unless you screwed up something, but of course, it indeed is bit of a gamble
