I bought a iPhone 5 on launch last year, and I had a problem with one of the buttons so I had it replaced at the Genius Bar today. When I checked the warranty on my old handset it had around 10 days left, on my new one it says October 2014.

Is this a mistake? Do you get a fresh years warranty with a replacement iPhone? I'm really confused as I was going to buy AppleCare within a few days.

Have you taken the drastic measure of calling them to check?

I was under the impression that the warranty on the new phone will expire on the same date that the old phone would have, so 10 more days.

It will say that for about a week or two. Eventually apple will update their servers and your replacement iphone ill have the same warranty ending date as your broken iphone.

The replacement phone has a 90 day warranty or the original warranty, whichever is greater. :apple:
