I just read an article on here about a warranty issue.

When I buy my iPhone should I get both the apple care and insurance?
Does iPhones through verizon have insurance for a couple bucks a month?

Don't get the phone company insurance. There is a high deductable involved and they will make every attempt to not honor it. I don't think they guarantee a new phone either; it could be a repaired (note I didn't say refurbished) one. You're better off with SquareTrade, which does accidental damage too and from I hear is pretty seamless. I think SquareTrade's deductable is $50.

As far as AppleCare, I don't know if I'd get it for the phone. Most hardware issues would present within the first year anyway. (I'll swear by it for computers though).
