Whoa, that Mark Zuckerberg or whatever his last name is, is a billionaire?

Seriously? Something like Facebook made him a friggin' billionaire?

Down another notch the American society goes...

i agree quite sad.

First off, it is only an estimate. An estimate based off Microsoft's investment in/valuation of Facebook. Second, it actually shows that growth, innovation and the free market is still strong in the U.S., especially in the all-important tech/online/social networking areas. Third, there is nothing wrong with a great idea. Especially one that brings people together like FB. My day-to-day usage varies but I sure have found a lot of lost friends through it. I would strongly suggest watching the following:

Also, ravenvii you're on the ******* Internet. Why would you say "or whatever his name is" when you can easily check it?

I'm just surprised he's worth that much. How does he even make money off the site is a mystery. The advertisements don't appear to be successful like they are on other webpages, and he refuses to sell FaceBook until he gets some crazy amount of money, like $15 Billion or something. I didn't think he'd be a billionaire until he sold FB, but I guess I'm wrong.

That's the point. He's valued at $1.5 billion because of Facebook's estimated value. Bill Gates doesn't have $58 billion in cash, they estimate he is worth that much based on the current value of his stock holdings. In fact, he may be worth more, but Fortune magazine uses public information (like how much stock he owns, as the information on holdings of institutions that own large amounts of shares must be publicly available) to determine his worth.

Aw poor Billy Boy. Now he's #2, as he will be with OS's in a few years (in terms of market share)

I hope Mac OS is not #1. I would not welcome the attention from the virus developers. 20% would be quite enough to keep the worthwhile software developers interested while keeping the viralators focused on #1.

Gates is actually number 3 now. But I wouldn't shame him at all for that: he's been giving away vast swaths of his fortune. Buffett will also soon be moving down on the list since he's gradually giving his fortune away too. Let's hope that if Apple moves to #1 in OS market share, Jobs will be equally generous.

Kinda random, but my mom's good friends with Warren's sister Doris....

I think I met Doris when I was little.
