Was 10-bit color ever confirmed? (M1 MBA external display)

I have a M1 MBA on the way, but I'm worried it won't be able to output 10-bit color to my monitor. The closest thing I can find to confirmation is this website https://singhkays.com/blog/apple-silicon-m1-hdr-10bit-billion-colors/, which is for the Mac Mini (same M1 chip as MBA). There are some threads about the issue on this site, but none with definite resolutions. Also, if it does work, is there a trick to getting it to work? e.g. HDMI vs. DisplayPort vs. USB-C.
