Am I the only one who felt that certain new features were misleadingly advertised as being specific to the new hardware being offered?

Or did I just not pay close enough attention?
I still haven’t let Apple off the hook for not informing consumers that a new battery could refresh their lagging phone. Now, I am questioning their tactics about not being transparent enough that certain new features are going to be offered by updated operating systems and usable even on older hardware.
