I have two Air's, one is a 14 and one is a 17. The 17 only has 100 cycles and has been used very little. The 14 has 958 cycles and has been used a lot. I'm blaming age for this, but just to be sure I wanted to ask...... the speaker in my 17 are much more loud and crisp. Was there ever a bump in wattage on the MOBO or a speaker change (maybe just a different supplier even) between these two models? I know they are all A1466 and don't see any published difference. Again, I am blaming age, but it is night and day difference in sound.

Right on. I think it's just the heavy use of the 14. I may grab a new set of speakers off eBay. I just ordered a new bottom case for my Pro since it's gotten a few scratches, might as well refresh the Air as well. Both are otherwise excellent so I don't mind a little maintenance. (except for that annoying delamitation on the Pro)

If others have MacBooks that are older than 2 years that are heavily used, find one the same model with less use and compare them because you may be missing out.
