Today I went to get my hinge tightened on my 15'' Mid 2012 rMPB, the genius said it would cost $39. That's fine, I pick it up later then they say they can't fix the loose hinge without replacing the whole display...? Doesn't make sense to me, I've looked at teardowns and it doesn't look very difficult to tighten the hinge, but apparently there's more adjustment screws built into the display assembly which they cannot adjust. I'm not going to pay $400 to have a new display put in, I don't see why it wouldn't be adjustable, just doesn't make sense to me. Anyways, anyone have a similar problem? I'm thinking of trying to do it myself since I'm a big DIY'er, just didn't really have time to do this but I guess I can do it when I get a chance over the next few weeks.

From what I can tell on mine it is a part of the display and it's sold as one piece.

iFixit shows it here:
