On my iPhone 6 plus, near the top of the display is an area of pixels that are permanently brighter than the rest of the screen, they look washed out as a consequence. The area is circular and about 5mm I'm diameter. It keeps catching my eye.
Would that be a candidate for a replacement from an Apple Store?

Yep. I think it's called light leak? I got an iPhone exchanged for that before, just point out the anomaly.

My friend had a similar issue with his 6+ and just took it to the Apple Store where they put a new display in the device, took about an hour. Not a big deal.
