I purchased the Watch series 3 and this is my first Apple Watch (got the LTE version). I am experiencing I really strange issue and wondering if anyone has every heard of this or knows anything about it.

It crashes every time I am on a certain floor/area of my workplace if I spend about 10 minutes there. This is the only time/place that it crashes but it is repeatable (have looked for it multiple times and it is consistent). The watch will go back to the apple logo and restart whenever I am there.

Any ideas on this? Has anyone experienced anything similar?

I am thinking of just returning it as I have already tried re-setting up and also repairing the watch and this did not fix the issue.

Thank you,
Cory

Well could you tell us a little about what might be located at that floor / area? Any strong magnetic fields nearby from equipment?

You also might try going there again and have your Watch in Airplane mode and see if it happens again.

The area is a cardiac ICU. No strong magnetic fields as machines are self contained. Not near any MRI equipment. There is additional cardiac data being transferred through the air for telemetry. Have not noticed this ever affecting any other device I have owned.

OK I would suggest when you go there again, have your Watch in Airplane mode and see if it happens again. If it reboots then try a return. If it works fine then enable the radios and see if it restarts.

If it is the radios being overwhelmed you might try a return but it is less likely to be a fix for you. You might just have to have your radios off in this area.

That's a great idea...I will try putting it into airplane mode and see what happens.

Thanks!

Exact. Same. Issue! So strange - my AW3 (first time owner, also) only does the constant reboot cycle when I'm at work in my CTICU. It's so frustrating, and it also sucks my battery. I've tried unpairing/repairing it but it didn't help. Both my phone and watch are updated with latest OS. I was going to visit the Genius Bar to see if they could offer some insight. Curious if you ever found a solution besides putting your watch in airplane mode. Kinda defeats the purpose of having the LTE capabilities if the smartwatch I'm wearing is disconnected for my entire 12 hour shift.

let apple know. they'll no doubt be intrigued and enjoy the puzzle. contact through the apple website

My watch 3 LTE is rebooting and reboots randomly in the hospital too. When I visit, I’m one floor above the ct scan floor.

Did anyone report this to Apple yet? (Possible the more we report to Apple the better)

Well I am glad to not be the only person experiencing this! Yes when I put it in airplane mode it does not happen so there is something about the area and the connectivity there that is causing it to repeatedly crash. Today I kept it on airplane mode for a while and no issues and within 1 minute of taking it off airplane mode it had rebooted and once rebooted did it again! Put it back on airplane mode and it was fine.

I think we should all let them know as the poster above said as this does not seem localized to just one watch (I thought it was an issue just with mine) but more of a systemic issue.

Thanks for everyone's input!

As I expected it is the radios. I agree that you should report it to Apple but this is likely covered under Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.

I have the LTE version, but my LTE is disabled as my carrier doesn’t support the Watch yet. So I wonder if it’s the Bluetooth causing the issue? Let’s hope our watches aren’t rebooting the hospital equipment.

Yeah it is not the LTE since my phone is through the hospital and they have not agreed to let me add LTE to the watch yet so I have mine off too.
[doublepost=1507311970][/doublepost]Just as an update I called them and they are elevating it to the engineering level they said. They are giving me a call back next Tuesday.

Thanks everyone,

Keep us informed.

I sent off a feed back to the Apple Watch team. Hopefully I hear something back from them.

What number did you call to Apple? As I think if there are more than one person calling about this issue they will try to resolve it faster.

I just used the Apple Support area on the apple website and used the option to have them call me. Will update here when I know more.

Hey any updates on this issue. I have been experiencing similar issues when working out at the hospital gym. Oddly enough there are surgical suites directly above but I'm not sure if the equipment would interfere. Apple has since taken the watch in for repairs.

Yes...it looks like it is an issue with the watches (at least the Series 3 LTE version). It has happened with more than one watch (I returned and got a new one and same issue to be sure). Apple is aware and is has been escalated to their engineering dept per Apple. No idea on if fix will be sent out and does not seem like anything to help with it at this point unfortunately (at least that they have shared).

That is very odd. My Apple Watch series 2 and now my series 3 only crash when I run by our local hospital. Literally the exact same spot both time. I’m not 100% sure what is located in the building closest to the road there, but there has to be something related to this. I thought it had to do with the podcast app not working well with the Nike Run Club, but today it happened with the stock music app and the Nike Run Club.

Anyone else?
