I do not currently have a cable subscription, only an internet subscription through Knology. But Comcast has a deal right now that is cheaper than my internet only price that includes internet and basic economy cable. This economy cable package does not include ESPN. Do i need to subscribe to a package with ESPN to access WatchESPN on my Apple TV? Or is a Comcast cable package enough?

I would love to switch and pay less money while getting access to Watch ESPN.

While I can't confirm by actually logging in, I think that's the point is that you have to have ESPN as part of your TV package.

I have that same Comcast package, I get like 5 channels and HBO, no ESPN. I went to ESPN on my Apple TV and set it up and it says that I do not have the credentials to watch ESPN on my Apple TV. Hope this helps

You need to have ESPN as part of your cable subscription to access most of locked content in the app.
